My Canvas by Kvadrat
Structural Forms
In line with our Adapt and Assemble design direction, Kvadrat presented the My Canvas exhibition as part of Design Frontiers at Somerset house for London Design Festival 2017. The exhibition featured collaborations with no less than 19 emerging and established designers, each of whom were tasked with interpreting the textile producer’s colourful canvas material in order to explore its potential in structural forms. The exhibit included Tension at Work by Martha Schwindling in which the textile is not simply used as a covering in the furniture designs but is instead used as the main structural element. Also featured was Atelier Max Lipseys’ Woven Bench which explores the ‘paradox of soft yet strong qualities that result from weaving’.
