Coloured light has the power to relax and recharge us, blue, the colour of daytime sky, awakens us and red, the colour of dusk, signals night-time. At the Heimtextil Theme Park 2018 we consider the need for urban spaces that positively impact our wellbeing and designers are using the colour blue to create productive, happy work environments. DeVorm use recycled PET bottles to create their cocoon like, moulded felt office furniture. When combined with their blue acoustic dividers and tables, the effect is a tonal blue zone – evocative of the recharging power of blue light. Similarly, Jaime Hayon has collaborated with &Tradition to create simple and functional workspace furniture in deep blue. The focus is on workspaces that are practical and productive without compromising on aesthetic.
